The farmers are seeking the removal of three new laws that they argue will help big business at their expense.
-The government insists on reforms that would allow major retailers to purchase directly from farmers, support farmers and attract investment to the agriculture sector.
-The indian government proposed compromises but ruled out dropping the changes.
-Agriculture accounts for about 15% of India's $2.9 trillion economy and employs almost half of India's 1.3 billion population.
Internet access remained blocked on Monday in many districts of the state bordering India's capital, after violent weekend clashes between police and farmers protesting divisive agricultural reforms... Internet controls accompanied chaotic scenes last week when protests continued against three agricultural laws enacted in September.
